Heather Ridge Farm in Preston Hollow

Action approach to learning helps local farmers understand how to manage time, grassfed animals and pastures with Holistic Management
June 24, 2017
Preston Hollow, New York – Holistic Management International, (HMI) is hosting a farm learning day in Preston Hollow, New York. The Heather Ridge Farm Day is part of HMI’s Open Gate Learning Series on June 24, 2017. Open Gates are peer-to-peer action-based learning days with short presentations and small group exercises geared for participants to share discoveries and land management techniques with guidance from experienced facilitators and producers.
The day is geared towards agricultural producers, consumers interested in nutrient-dense food, conservationists, local agency representatives, or anyone interested in farming, permaculture, land stewardship, or grassfed animal production. Participants will hear how Holistic Management® enables producers to improve their land with less dependence on inputs, better manage risk, make better decisions and enjoy the benefits of sustainable agriculture.
Heather Ridge Farm offers retail cuts of pork, beef, lamb, goat, chicken, duck, guinea, geese, and turkey, all grown on the farm and available at the farm store or through their meat & poultry CSA. Their lamb and goat meats are certified Animal Welfare Approved Grassfed. The heritage breed pastured pork and eggs from pastured poultry are also Animal Welfare Approved. The farm makes its own artisan sausages, pates, corned beef, smoked bacon, mustards, root beer syrup, and many other specialty products.
All the animals are lovingly raised in small groups on pasture in the fresh air with mountain spring water. All are guarded by diligent llamas. Come see them for yourself!
The registration cost is $25 and includes lunch. Additional information and registration details can be found on the HMI website at www.holisticmanagement.org/heatherridge.
